About Us


Youth Sports and Development Alliance of Kenya (YSDAK) was established initially as a Self Help in 1996 but later transformed and registered as an NGO in 2007(Registration No. (OP.218/051/2007/4695).  

YSDAK exists to promote the full development and realization of potential by young people, thus ensuring their active participation and contribution to their self development and that of the society.

YSADK seeks to improve quality of life of orphans and vulnerable children by increasing access to quality education, reducing vulnerability to HIV infections and its impact and promoting life skills and talent development among youth as well as enhancing income generation among the vulnerable households. 

The organization is managed by a Board of Directors. The board is charged with key roles of policy formulation and the overall oversight, ensuring the organization stays focused on its objectives; providing policy and strategic direction and setting targets and receiving reports on the performance of the programs.

The program is anchored on a 3-years (2014 -2017) strategic plan document that spells out the organization’s purpose, aspirations, commitment, strategies and anticipated outcomes, as well as the mode of assessing performance.

In pursuit of the Vision and the mission, YSDAK is guided by the following values; respect for children rights, compassion, gender equity, accountability and perseverance.


  1. Improved opportunities for youths to develop their talent and reach their potential
  2. Reduced vulnerability of the youth to drugs, substance abuse and HIV&AIDS
  3.  Improved nutrition and income among poor and vulnerable households.
  4. Increased enrolment and retention of Orphans & Vulnerable children in schools.


  • 1999- YSDAK founded and registered under the Ministry of Culture and Social Services.
  • 2000 - YSDAK established 6 youth centers in West Rachuonyo through which it works directly with 300 youths.
  • 2005- YSDAK trains its first batch of 40 Youth Coaches and Referees as part of a collaborative effort with the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) and Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA).
  • 2006- The organization trains its initial team of 15 Peer Health Educators(PHEs)
  • 2006 Two boys , products of the Youth Centers join the Nation-wide league
  • 2007 - YSDAK registered as a Non Governmental Organization under the NGOs Coordination Act 1990.
  • 2007- YSDAK recruits its first Resource Center Coordinator on a part time basis.

2007- The Children Left Behind (TCLB) Project intiated in Kisumu (a new develoment inititive).

2008 - YSDAK Introduces a game of Cricket and takes a leading role in develoing the game in Nyanza.

2008 - YSDAK Introduces the child education sponsorship in Kisumu.

2009 - YSDAK Intiates the Dairy Goats project.

2009- Construction of JAMILO SCHOOL commenced in Kisumu.

2010- JAMILO SCHOOL admits it first ECD pupils.

2010-The first YSDAK sponsored child addmited at the Kenya Medical Trainning College (KMTC).

2013-The first YSDAK sponsored child graduates from the Kenya Medical Trainning College (KMTC).

2013-The first YSDAK sponsored child addmited in the University.

2016-The first YSDAK sponsored child Graduates with a Bachelor Degree from the University.
